Thanks to new agreements in the Netherlands we have some good news. At Larex you will get one day holiday extra and more holiday allowance in 2020. That’s in the bag for the New Year!
Each country has its own legislation and regulations regarding anything to do with work. And the EU has supplementary and coordinating regulations for it all. They enable you, for instance, to work in another EU country without any restriction. Like in the Netherlands, through Larex.
Remuneration agreements and more
Larex organises the outsourcing of EU professionals at Dutch companies in the engineering, construction, metal and painting industry. These are all companies working in accordance with good collective labour agreements (CAOs) for employees. CAOs contain agreements on minimum wage, pensions and holiday.
In the Netherlands these remuneration agreements also apply to temporary employees. And that includes EU employees. At Larex we ensure that these agreements are always adhered to.
New legislation for certainty around temporary contracts
Temporary work is a normal thing in the Netherlands. The reason that unemployment in the Netherlands is low is for an important part down to temporary employment agencies. One in six Dutch employees is registered with a temporary employment agency. And the Netherlands counts more than one million self-employed people, including many independent plumbers, carpenters, welders and painters.
The Dutch government ensures that all this temporary work is done in accordance with the rules and they have created a new act aimed at balance in the labour market which will come into effect as from 1 January 2020 (Wet Arbeidsmarkt in Balans, WAB). This act includes rules for temporary employment agencies. For example, the WAB determines how often and how long we can work with temporary contracts.
At Larex, we have aligned all our files and procedures with the new act. In this way we can be sure that everything is done according to the rules and that all our employees receive everything they are entitled to. That also applies to you, because it doesn’t matter whether you are from the Netherlands or another EU country. If your personal situation is going to change because of the WAB, your contact person will let you know in good time.
Additional agreements, additional security
Every sector in which employees of Larex are active (engineering, construction, metal, painting) has its own CAO (collective agreement between the employers and employees). On top of that, there are separate agreements for temporary employment agencies. So far there were two CAOs, as each umbrella organisation had its own agreements.
Larex applied the CAO of the NBBU (‘Nederlandse Bond van Bemiddelings- en Uitzendbureaus’), an organisation that strictly supervises that we adhere to the rules and that we always have sufficient funds to pay our employees on time.
More holiday and holiday allowance, who wouldn’t like that?
The second organisation for temporary employment agencies is called the ABU (‘Algemene Bond Uitzendondernemingen’). Recently the NBBU and ABU decided to combine the best of the two CAOs into one joint CAO. You might think: why should I be interested in that?
Well, you would be. Your security on the Dutch labour market is now arranged even better. And it will give you a nice little present for the end of the year. In 2020, you are entitled to one extra paid day leave and we increase your holiday allowance. A good start to the New Year.
